Sustainability
'Sustainable design', 'low energy design', 'green design', 'renewable energy'; buzz words that are generally used in abundance to describe engineering solutions that are considered groundbreaking. We are of the opinion that in today's environment these buzz words should be just considered the norm. All design solutions regardless of the status and value should incorporate an element of sustainable and renewable energy in a form appropriate to the budget constraints and the Client's expectations.
The team at PrestonBARBER are simply passionate and enthusiastic about delivering designs that have minimal impact on the environment both during the construction stage and whilst occupied. The vast majority of our designs incorporate solutions that are considered 'low energy' and 'green'; our expertise ranges from schools and community centres to speculative offices and managed workspaces.
We work hard to educate our Clients and help them understand the benefits of carefully selecting renewable sources and equipment to ensure that our proposed solutions are specific to their current and future needs.
We are accredited Low Carbon Consultants and certified to undertake approved SBEM calculations (using HevaComp Software) for Building Regulations Approval and EPC Certificates. As a result of our past experiences we are happy to offer Architects and Clients advice as to how best to approach a building design to achieve Part L compliance in the early stages of design concept. Our regular Clients find that this initial advice saves them valuable time when sketching building concepts.
